Culture Must Evolve to Survive

Cultural preservation isn't about keeping heritage under glass—it's about creating new cultural units ("memes") that resonate with modern generations. VRMaldives places users directly inside a living historical setting where the world evolves around them while they stay rooted in the rhythm of the Boduberu.

Culture Must Evolve to Survive

“Elders who possess the knowledge are no longer able to roam the forests, while youngsters remain in the villages ignorant of the forests and lacking any need to herd deer or hunt. All this knowledge, an entire atlas in the mind, has vanished in just two generations.”

(Harrison, 2007, p. 119).

Research & Technical Credibility

  • Developed as a Master of Visual Communication research project at Sunway University.
  • Built in Unity with custom code, motion-captured animations, and custom 3D modeling.
  • Authentic soundtrack recorded with Ekathi Boduberu Group and Shaz Sir.
